Makenzie Wood
I'm a product designer with a master's in psychology and eight years of experience across operations, project management, and design. I transitioned into design in 2023 after years managing large teams, scaling services, and driving strategy, and that background shows up everywhere in my design process. I'm comfortable with ambiguity, I get so much satisfaction from creating order out of chaos, and above all else, I love to learn.
Currently I'm designing tools for mental health therapists at Alma. Most of my work in the design world so far has focused on internal tools. It’s not glamorous UI, but everything I’ve designed is a direct reflection of the close relationship I build with my users and my committment to centering their needs, being objective and data-driven when making design decisions, and crafting a personal design process that is collaborative, pragmatic, and intentionally iterative.
Outside of work I'm a long-distance runner, amateur ceramicist, and very proud dog mom to my pug, Bruce. I love to spend time outdoors, am working towards a certification in clinical herbalism, and can’t read enough books about 90s guitar rock.
